Sad Thing Is

That The New Yorker cartoon has so much to satire with a magazine cover. Any one of these satirical items thirty or forty years ago would have prevented Obama from even getting elected as dog catcher, let alone to the Senate or to be a major party nominee for the Presidency. This is almost the 1960’s version of a fictional idea of linking Johnson to Mao, Castro, and Ho Chi Min in the ’64 campaign. If any such link would have even been remotely possible to satire back then the Johnson campaign would have skidded off the road into the Grand Canyon. A major candidate that can even be thought or questioned to support or have connections to terrorists in this age should be a death knell, but for some reason in this screwed up mess of some voter’s minds it is not.
