No More Eurotard Crap

SLAPSHOT points out a wonderful bit on some of the people that generally think Americans are a bunch of illiterate boobs, saying “I don’t want to hear any more about how ignorant and un-read Americans are!”:

Percentage of 3,000 Britons surveyed who think the following are mythical people:

47 percent – King Richard the Lionheart
23 percent – Wintson Churchill
23 percent – Florence Nightingale
3 percent – Charles Dickens

Percentage of 3,000 Britons surveyed who think the following are real people:

58 percent – Sherlock Holmes
33 percent – Biggles

It doesn’t get more ironic than this. Though Mr. Fu shutters to think how Americans would respond. But at least they probably would not know any of the bigs from British history or fiction.  Ignorance is said to be bliss, but Mr. Fu knows far too many ignorant people who suffer daily from ignorance.  Many of them are European….

As an American, I would state that I knew all of the real from fictional characters listed above with the exception of never having heard of Biggles. That said, I would still consider voting for Bilbo Baggins for president. A fictional character might do less damage than a real human over here.
