Hate Crimes

Mr. Fu is sure that many people would regard Mr. Fu is just a hate crime generating machine. METAPHOR has an interesting bit on a call into the Medved show:

For some, however, anyone who ventures into the thicket of theological disputations is equally suspect, which led a guest on the Medved show today to utter a stupendously idiotic judgment: she found Ann Coulter’s remarks as offensive as a jihadi’s snuff video of Daniel Pearl’s execution. It was an interesting remark, because you could sense the parameters of her intellectual terrain. There is a big comfy warm spot in which the smart and decent people reside, and beyond that there be dragons. If these people believe in the warm mealy notions that hold all cultures equal, and regard the assertion of a culture’s values as the equivalent of passing gas in the museum, you’ll naturally get this. If such a mild assertion merits a visit from the police, then any frank expressions of doctrine will earn the same, until sermons turn into room-temp gruel. But I suspect the efforts of the police will be selectively applied, in order to assure all that the hitherto dominant culture has assumed the supine position the times require.

The story at the link is at people and government gone wild over being offended and politically correct.

“Apparently someone in my congregation was unhappy with my comments and, after waiting a year, went to the police to say he had been ‘disturbed’ by it.”

A fortnight ago officers knocked on the door of his home next to St Mary’s Church, Hornchurch. They said they had been sent by a superintendent.

“They said they had come to see if I had intended to incite racial hatred,” the priest said. “I was pretty surprised. It seemed to me that political correctness had gone haywire in this situation.

Oh sure, it could not happen here. Mr. Fu is certain there were many Germans who felt the same way, until the knock on the door was the first signal that you would be taking that trip out of town because you were too Jewish, too ethnic, not German enough, or thought the wrong thing. Heck the thought police are one step closer to your door today:

SEC. 11. Section 220 of the Education Code is amended to read:
220. No person shall be subjected to discrimination on the basis
sex, ethnic group identification, race, national origin,
religion, color, mental or physical disability, or any actual or
disability, gender, nationality, race or
ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or any other

characteristic that is contained in the definition of hate crimes set
forth in Section 422.55 of the Penal Code in any program or activity
conducted by an educational institution that receives, or benefits
from, state financial assistance or enrolls pupils who receive state
student financial aid.

SEC. 15. Section 51500 of the Education Code is amended to read:
51500. No teacher shall give instruction nor shall a school
district sponsor any activity which
reflects adversely upon persons because of
their race,
sex, color, creed, handicap, national origin, or ancestry

a characteristic listed in Section 220 .

SEC. 26. Section 66262.7 is added to the Education Code, to read:
66262.7. “Sexual orientation” means heterosexuality,
homosexuality, or bisexuality.

Reflects adversely? What does that mean? As in the meaning of opposing? Or perhaps stating a fact that could be interpreted as being unfavorable to? So if one were to say “the lifespans of homosexuals are much shorter than those of heterosexuals” would that reflect adversely on homosexuals? Would that bring a knock on he door of a teacher that made such a statement? What about stating “Muslim terrorists exist?” Is that prohibited?

So Ann Coulter’s remarks were as offensive as the jihadis cutting off Daniel Pearl’s head?  If you believe that you need to do a Google search on both items and view them.  Then if you still feel that way let us know, because you have taken leave from the society of decent, thinking people and need to be carefully watched.  Surely Mr. Fu will soon be joining Ann Coulter and others in Leftist prisons for having committed hate crimes.
